‘Tis the season and whether you are making your wish list or are looking for ideas to give the quilter in your life, we thought we’d share some suggestions.

On our Facebook page we asked our fans what they would consider to be the best gifts.  We had some great responses that we’ve compiled below and we’ve added a few of our favorite quilting things too!

Of course, many folks said they’d love to find an APQS longarm quilting machine under their tree or a Quilt Path computerized quilting system that they can attach to their APQS longarm. We completely understand that desire! In fact, we are giving away our top of the line longarm quilting machine, the Millennium, on December 15 just in time for Christmas and you can enter everyday.  If you’d rather not leave it to chance, though, contact your local dealer to chat about our machines.

There were also requests for classes, retreats and other educational opportunities. Our APQS stores offer a variety of classes that would be perfect. The APQS store near you may also offer longarm rental programs which would be a great gift for the aspiring longarm quilter in your world.  A gift certificate for a class or retreat is always a stellar gift! Or, consider getting a DVD from a well respected quilting instructor or even a signed longarm quilting book to slip into their stocking!

Thread is like candy to the quilting soul. A nice collection of beautiful colors packaged up beautifully will make your favorite quilter swoon. We like Glide thread and Sew Fine thread. We have a variety of bundles that have been hand selected and grouped for the perfect gift. You could also purchase a thread of the month club program that will automatically ship out lovely cones of thread every month!

Sterling silver quilt block jewelry would be a dramatic gift that would sparkle under the tree. Select earrings that will showcase her passion to the world in a beautiful, personal way. There are also sterling silver quilt block charms for bracelets and necklaces too.

Wool projects are a wonderful gift for the winter months. You’ll find that wool can come in dramatic colors that are easy to stitch and a beautiful addition to the home. Plus, the wool kits come with most everything your quilter will need.

A magazine subscription to Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting or Machine Quilting Unlimited would both be wonderful stocking stuffers. Every month when they show up it would remind your quilter of how much you love them!

More than any of the above, though, the top gift requested was that of time. Some folks asked for a chef, a maid or a chauffer to drive the kids around and do errands. What can we say? Quilters like to quilt! Gift certificates for carry out, promises to do the dishes, volunteering to watch the kids—whatever you can do to give your quilter more time for them to enjoy their passion, the better!
