Reloading a stitched quilt on your APQS longarm

It’s a wonderful feeling when you take a quilted quilt off the frame. But what if … Oh no! … you discover a spot you missed or need to redo. No worries! You don’t have to re-pin your quilt to the frame. For small spot fixes, you can use this simple way to quickly remount your quilt, make the fix and remove the quilt.

Take a sturdy cardboard tube, like the ones at the center of batting rolls. Cut at least two short sections, maybe 18-24” long, then slice through each section the long way. Be careful to cut only through one side (don’t create two halves).

Lay your quilted quilt under the leveling bar and over the pick up roller, and under the top roller and over the backing roller as normal.

Slide a cardboard section onto the pickup roller and another on the backing roller. You may need to stretch the section open or cut off 1 or 2 inches from the long way to make it easier to put on.

Make the fix, then slide the cardboard sections off. Voila! So quick and easy!
