Remember those warm days outside when all you needed was a rock, a big chunk of chalk,  and a few squares were drawn onto the concrete for hours and hours of fun playing hopscotch?  Stepping Stones is inspired by those summer memories jumping from square to square with friends.

This month’s fabulous quilt comes to us from APQS Dealer Tracey Russell from Whirls n Swirls Quilting in Oshawa, Ontario Canada.

Simple cutting and chain piecing coupled with easy to put together blocks means it goes together fast and with only 2 blocks to keep track of, this top is a breeze to whip up.  The pattern will give you a nice sized queen at 95” square however, you can make it in any size you like. Whether you choose a black or dark background like the pattern sample or a lighter background with darker colors for the ‘stones’ it’s going to look great!  The graphic nature of the design makes it very versatile and would be suitable for anyone on your gift list. The fabrics you choose will vastly change the feel of this quilt.

The piecing in this quilt lends itself to some fabulous custom quilting if you are so inclined, however, as you can see here, it looks just as amazing with a nice all over design too!  Tracey quilted Stepping Stones with her very own design called Concertina using Quilt Path. She is now taking her talent with free motion quilting and creating digital designs for all computerized systems.  Concertina is now available on her website: http://bit.ly/2Oi8pza. Tracey adds new designs weekly, so make sure to visit frequently.
