All it took for APQS dealer Lorraine Harnish to get the quilting bug was to put together one Eleanor Burns Log Cabin quilt with friends. Her quilting story, from there, has blossomed to a variety of quilting avenues – from teaching, to being a part owner of a quilting studio called The Quilt Academy in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, to being a longarm owner and APQS dealer.
Lorraine first learned how to sew from her mother at a young age. In 1992, she started piecing. But as she began putting together her first solo quilt for her daughter, Lorraine let someone else pick out the fabric, and she was not happy with the final product. The scenario made her want to put together another quilt, with better colors. Soon after, she began teaching quilting classes and retired from teaching health and physical education to focus on quilting.
Quilting has allowed Lorraine to continue teaching, just in another subject. In 2005, Lorraine became the proud owner of a Millenium. Currently, Lorraine spends her time running The Quilt Academy, teaching classes and quilting.
