Quilting Artists

Yoshiko Jinzenji

In more than 30 years of fine art quilt making, Jinzenji has merged different cultural styles from the stitching handiwork of the Amish and Mennonites to the patchwork alter cloths of her native Japan.

The minimalism of her work adds to its quiet power.

She uses antique fabrics collected from around the world in some of her quilts and vibrant tropical natural dyes or innovative synthetic in others. Her art is exhibited around the world.

Yoshiko is the author of Quilt Artistry: Inspired Designs from the East. This hardcover book has been described as equaling her quilting in beauty and inspiration.

She lives in Kyoto, Japan and has a studio in Bali, Indonesia.
