Mickey Depre is an Art Quilter who makes traditional quilts too! She often jests at her lectures that she has a dual personality in the world of quilting. And with the publication of her newest book, Pieced Hexies – this is not your Grandmother’s Flower Garden, she hopes to soon be known as a Traditional Quilter who also makes Art Quilts.
Mickey Depre was introduced to the world of fiber arts by her own personal "grand masters” at the age of four. Grandmothers, great aunts, aunts and her mother filled her days with cloth, needles, yarn and such. In 1997 she found quilting on her own.
She has been recognized with many awards, publications, and her first book Garden Whimsy Appliqué covered her style of machine appliqué.
Machine quilting all her work on George has provided her several awards for her skill. As she says, a day with George is a very good day…and this can raise eyebrows as her dear husband’s name is Paul.
You can find more of her work on her website at www.mdquilts.com.
