Since 1991, Marilyn has been producing award-winning quilts, including Best of Show or Best Longarm Awards at all 4 American Quilter's Society shows held in Lancaster, Paducah, Nashville and Des Moines.
She and her professional quilting techniques have been featured on over 60 PBS quilting shows with Fons and Porter and Kaye Wood, as well as "Quilt Central” with Donna Wilder and Janie Donaldson and HGTV’s "Simply Quilts” with Alex Andersen.
Marilyn’s work has also been featured in national publications such as American Quilter, Traditional Quiltworks, Sew Many Quilts, Love of Quilting, Quilters’ Newsletter Magazine,Australia’s Quilts Down Under, Great American Quilts 2004 as well as books by Claudia Clark Myers, Margaret Miller, Kaye Wood, Nicole Chambers, Jennifer Priestley, Joyce Drexler, Karen Combs, Marion Haslam, and Christine Barnes.
Her work has been featured in special exhibits at the National Quilt Museum, as well as national quilt shows such as AQS Paducah, Road to California and HMQS Salt Lake City. She taught longarm classes for 11 years in her studio as well as in various parts of the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan. She has served as a consultant to APQS and participated on their behalf at major quilt shows throughout the United States and Japan.
Marilyn has been married for 34 years to Hartley, a retired engineer, yacht skipper and general contractor whose company, Hartley Manufacturing, Inc., manufactures longarm quilting machine accessories. The pair enjoy the warm, sunny climate of St. George, Utah, and play golf every chance they get.
