Master Quilter Noriko literally paints landscapes with a
longarm machine, using thread for colors and stitches for brush
strokes. Her quilts have an impressionistic quality about them,
reminiscent of Monet but with vibrant hues. Her remarkable color sense was gained from
watching her mother knit garments using a large selection of
balls of yarn. Since 1985 with the duties of raising a
family behind her, she has devoted herself entirely to creating
quilts that express her exuberant sense of color and deep
appreciation for the bold majesty of matures trees. Her art has appeared in national exhibits,
including Quilt Visions, Quilt National and Quilts Nihon in the
U.S., Europe and Japan. Noriko was recently featured as Artist in
Residence at the Empty Spool Seminars in Alisomar, CA. She has also appeared on HGTV and Simply
Quilts with Alex Anderson. She lives in Chiba, Japan, outside of
Tokyo. |
