APQS Quilters Take Best of Show

APQS Quilters Marilyn Badger & Claudia Clark Myers |
The 2008 quilt show schedule is just getting started, but two APQS quilters are already seeing the fruits of their labor. On March 28, 2008, quilt artists Marilyn Badger of St. George, Utah, and Claudia Clark Myers of Duluth, Minnesota, were overjoyed to learn they had taken Best of Show at Quilter's Heritage Celebration in Lancaster, PA, with their quilt "Awesome Blossoms."
The quilt is an original design, pieced and appliquéd by Claudia. Marilyn also got to participate in piecing one of the dahlias while visiting Claudia in the early stages of development. After Marilyn finished quilting the project on her APQS Millennium, Claudia hand painted the outer border.
This quilt has a busy schedule, as it will head to the AQS show in Paducah in April. "Awesome Blossoms" has been selected to be featured on the cover of the upcoming issue of Quilters Newsletter Magazine. Be sure to pick up an issue and read more about the quilt and the talented artists that created it.

This isn't the first win in 2008 for this dynamic quilting team. Their quilt, "Big Bird Blues" won 2nd Place at Road to California in January and First Place at the Indiana Heritage Quilt Show on February 27. Marilyn and Claudia are also receiving a First Place award at the AQS Show in Paducah for "Berry Patch" a quilt they made for the contest "New Quilts from Old Favorites". This quilt will be featured on the cover and inside the new book by the same name that comes out at Paducah.
