Longarm quilting classes

When you become part of the APQS family you can count on a lifelong relationship with more than just a quilting machine. Our training classes are a great example of that. We’re always finding new ways to help APQS owners become better at their craft.

Class descriptions

Are you new to quilting? Or are you interested in moving beyond pantographs? Maybe you are wanting to learn more about basic machine maintenance. Below click on our class options to learn more about what each class has to offer.

Our beginner longarm quilting class is taught at numerous locations all across the US and other countries.

You’ll learn:

  • Skills you need to complete typical quilting projects on your new longarm machine
  • Supply information
  • Thread and batting
  • Maintenance and tension
  • Customer contact and consultation
  • Different ways to load a quilt
  • How to conquer pantographs
  • Basic custom quilting skills like border designs, blocks, stitching in the ditch and more
  • Business tips

Location: Numerous locations across the U.S. and other countries.

Cost: Free within one year of the purchase of a new or certified used APQS machine.

Our maintenance class is a two-day seminar that will teach you the very basics of machine maintenance, all the way through more in-depth service such as timing and motor brushes. You will also learn:

  • Tension issues
  • Thread and needles
  • Wheel adjustments
  • Hook maintenance

Location: APQS Showroom & National Training Center in Carroll, Iowa

Instructor: Amy Stuart, APQS head service technician

Tuition: $400 plus tax, payable in advance.
